Wedding Improvements

I wish wedding events allowed us to add the relatives and close friends of both sims getting married regardless of which sim is selected at the time of planning the event. It's frustrating when only one of the engaged sim's relatives shows up because that sim isn't yet acquainted with their partner's family. I think parents, siblings and children should be first on the list to be invited.

Anyone else got some fun wedding ideas?

EDIT - apologies, I thought I had posted this in the Ideas forum.

Totally agree! And it will be fun if we could hire a wedding planner, there's wedding registration process, determining the colour theme for the wedding (so, the guests will dress accordingly), wedding cards to be sent out, instead of the buffet, I would rather to have plated/seated style.. (I hate it when everyone is just wandering around), the guests are properly seated and watch the ceremony properly instead of grabbing some drinks, etc. (most of the time, my Sims wed with only 1/2 guests that witnessed their wedding :| (the Sims are very bad in following the protocol), MC for the wedding, can hire Singer (more than 1 entertainer - so, more instruments that they can play with)... and love the slow dance... They used to have it in previous series... but why can't we have it for TS4...
  • A great thing to add is you could throw flowers and you can choose the person who you throw them too.

I just had a thought, can you hire a photographer if you have the photo station (whatever it’s called lol). If not they really need to add that into the game or someone needs to mod it.

Omg imagine a fun photobooth were a group of guests randomly go in to take some funny themed pics you can set up for your wedding. You know with these accessories:

And then they can purchase them or you can hang them up on a wall/board at your wedding or take them home as a memory.

My brother's wedding had something similar. It was fun.
  • I just threw a wedding for a young couple in my game. Talk about frustrating. I loaded a venue (actually two different wedding places) from the gallery. Did the whole place and build option so that I could take a first-hand look. Everything seemed right in the second venue (the first had some issues, that even after I added onto the building weren't totally fixed). Even so, I had to pause my game and go into build mode because the bride (my controllable Sim) complained something was blocking her path to the wedding arch. This AFTER I moved the partition wall between the actual space for the ceremony and the much larger area devoted to the reception/party afterwards. Still it was a no-go. At last, I went back into build mode and REMOVED the rather glorious chandelier. Once I did that the wedding could proceed. However, I don't think the clock on the Event stops when the game goes into build mode. :'(

The couple managed to get married and many of the Event things were satisfied, yet they only ended up with a Silver award. Ho-hum. I'm used to the Gold standard, myself.

NOTE to those who build Wedding Venues: Please, please, PLEASE test them before placing them on the Gallery.

    Thank you.
  • I second the slow dance idea. I'm playing a long legacy family right now and weddings are always kinda a huge event in my game because they only come around once per generation. I try to change things up every time to add variation but the lack of wedding options makes that hard. I used the "dance with..." option to improvise a first dance scenario in my last wedding, so the pictures ended up like this ->

I actually really liked it, I thought it was funny. I think it would be cool to add the option of a first dance though, and add it to the requirements for a successful wedding event. I also think it would be fitting to add dancing in general to the list of requirements, because I don't think I've been to a real wedding reception that didn't end with everyone on the dance floor.
  • I wish attendees would sit down when the wedding starts, not walking around or standing behind the arch as the betrothed are giving their “I do’s.” And if sims are throwing a wedding that should automatically exempt them from working, because I like my sims to get married on a weekend and sometimes sims schedules conflict with each other; and I know you can choose “vacation day,” but that doesn’t always work especially if “vacation” has been already used prior.
  • I wish we could prearrange honeymoons in one of the vacation worlds, like you could in Sims 2.

Yes. I want them to bring back the heart shaped wedding arches from TS3,the champagne bottle from the Sims 2 and wedding veils.
