I think without an open world, it's entirely impossible for me to be happy but I did state in another post that if major details were taken out, I would be happy if they at least improved the game.
A few things I think could improve the game is, for people not wanting to deal w/loading screens, maybe more hobbies at home. There was a gardening club that was available during The Sims 2, that was pretty neat. After school programs were also nice, so that your child could gain skills, enjoyment, and get trophies for activities while also letting you handle things at home.
Maybe working from home businesses to go along w/hobbies? Like sewing, jewelry making? I know something similar was brought into TS3 within the store.
Again, bringing up the loading screen issue, perhaps there could be a plaza or district where you can do many things at once. For instance, a theater, restaurant, coffee bars, karaoke, or other entertainments in one lot so you don't have to deal with the loading screens when hopping from place to place. It doesn't have to include any of the places I listed, it can be anything of entertainment value.
I'm disappointed with our parks as well, maybe more activities to do while attending the park and a larger lot. More activities to promote athleticism, other than just "working out". For instance, ballet, where you could take children w/you. Having ballet classes would be nice as well! Making it into a career, while letting you specialize into other forms of dance (jazz, tap dancing, etc) or maybe even a back-up dancer. Something along those lines.
More color options would be nice, it's very boring without CAS. Providing something similar would be even better in-game, but if it's not possible, adding to the little we're provided would be nice. More clothing options for kids, not sharing clothing choices between young adults and adult.
I liked have different worlds to play in as well that did not connect, if it did connect, that would be fine but I'm not a fan of Oasis Springs. It reminds me of Strangetown and I never played there. Maybe give us the option of which neighborhood we would like to connect to and not force one upon us. Having more lots in the neighborhood would also be nice.
