Make it appropriate to season and just destructive enough to keep things interesting while your sims get back on their feet. (Maybe introduce new death types from it, too.) I'd also love a meteorologist career track that could get something similar to the weather machine or a reward that lets them predict when extreme weather is about to hit and take precautions.
The career idea is awesome, I'd take that career path no questions asked. I'm a huge storm nerd, I live in the UK so our weather is pretty mundane, I have seen 3 tornadoes here though, I shouldn't really complain, I was just in the right places at the right times xD
