Re: Food, Dining and Drink Feedback

So The Sims team are collecting feedback on how they can improve upon Food/Drink, Dining Experience & Dine Out and I was just curious as to why the feedback is limited to Discord and Reddit and why there is no post here in their own forums for us to also provide feedback. I don't like using Discord or Reddit and I feel like here in the official forums, player feedback can actually be constructive and useful.

Agreed.  Is this no longer The Official Sims Forum?

It is but just seems like our feedback here doesn't matter. I don't like Discord or Reddit so having the post here would help.

Heya CrispySims619 Great question! We’ve been gathering and reporting on any feedback shared here on the forums for quite some time, so for this specific round of feedback, we’re gathering information in other areas from additional players that may not be on these forums to ensure we get as much player feedback as we can. The more feedback we get, the better we can deliver on the Quality of Life roadmap that we shared back in February.

That said, we make a point to continuously report on and share any feedback that we receive here on the forums to the appropriate teams, so please keep it coming! Any feedback we receive here on the forums is just as important as feedback from other platforms, and we absolutely want to hear your thoughts!

Crispy has a point regardless of who you are adding to your new round of information gathering you should ALWAYS have the same type of posts asking for Feedback on the Feedback Forum Pinned right on top here and vice versa. Same thing goes for Survey links. The people most likely to take the time to answer are the same folks who take their personal time to add their views on this very forum.

My feedback about Food/Drink & Dine Out:

    Food/Drink:

I think this section is a mess to be honest. If you want to cook a specific meal, the loading time until the menu pops up is insane if you own a lot of packs. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I wish you trimmed down the food section since I'd rather have fewer options if it means smoother gameplay. Also, the fishes need to be recategorised so they fit the "Cook" and "Bake" category respectively. For example, you don't cook birthday cakes, you bake them. Sometimes it's tricky to find what you want to make simply because it's under the wrong category. I know it's about which skill the dish raises, but cakes should raise the baking skill rather than the cooking skill anyways.

    Dine Out:

Eating at a restaurant works alright for me. I have no problems ordering, eating and paying. However, the sims' autonomy makes it so that sims often get up to stand beside a table, so if you're eating out with a sim you don't control that gets annoying. I think you need to implement stricter limitations on autonomy so that sims can't interrupt what they're doing until the action is over, unless you as the player cancel the action (reversely, the action should cancel immediately when you click on it  just like in previous games). In addition, the many food options when you create a menu is also pretty overwhelming, and some items appear twice (I think if they come with other packs as well) - hence why I'm asking you to reduce food options.

I haven't played as a restaurant manager after the first time I tried it maybe seven years ago, so I don't know if that part has improved over the years. I might try it later and update this post then. But it would be great if you could hire unemployed sims living in the same world as restaurant workers (like you can hire unemployed sims living in the same world with Businesses and Hobbies) or at least get a drop-down menu of ALL available options instead of just six random sims that shuffle whenever you open and close the menu (same goes for vet clinics, but different topic).

In case you're thinking about adding features to Dine Out:

    • Being able to work as a server and a chef at a restaurant instead of just being the manager!
    • Adding restaurant items (chef station etc.) in different styles so you can build e.g. Asian-inspired Restaurants
    • Adding more swatches to the existing restaurant sets
