I agree it could definitely use some work as we have so many packs now. Just using the option to place items by room for example, the bathroom accents haven't been updated for a while and the new bathroom kit isn't included. The decor option in the Kitchen room layout doesn't make sense, click the little fruit bowl and the new Kitchen Clutter items don't show up for me either but I do see temple columns from Jungle Adventure! Some kitchen dressers are in Displays but others are in Miscellaneous Decorations, I think that's obviously because some are functional and some are not but I'd personally like them together. I always forget some of them.
I also saw an excellent suggestion recently to add categories for ottomans. Displays and shelving could be added when placing by room too. Room dividers and screens could be added to the bedroom layout.
But the categories really need more organisation. Items are sometimes missing or in a strange category and not where you'd expect to find it. Colour filters could be expanded to add more colours/shades.
Sorting through debug on console can be really tricky. It sounds a bit easier on PC from what I've heard. It's really difficult to filter debug items for me. To actually get all items to show up I have to do a blank search and then I get a totally different result to just using Show All, suddenly more items appear.
I think if you've played the game for a long time you get a sense of where things are but I still forget some things and I'll be scrolling through categories thinking "I'm sure I saw that somewhere but I don't know what it's called"!
