Overly Disappointed from broken game

I've been playing the sims 4 for only a little over a year and this has to be the most frustrating game. in the amount of time I've had the game it has been riddled with nothing but issues. from constant unnecessary updates to overly hyped packs with little to no actual substance. I'm not too knowledgeable on the game but i think i at least know my way around, especially because of a lot of talented simmers. Recently I've come across a new number of issues. one being that ever since i bought the for rent pack my game has not been saving, i will get halfway or whole way through a build and it will not save it just gets stuck on infinite loading save screens. secondly I've noticed that when looking through build items most will not show up and it is usually an indication that the game will freeze and be unable to save., and even saving periodically throughout is not helping as it will eventually not save once again. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this issue but its very annoying and i don't know how to fix it. I've gone through all my mods and cc making sure all broken ones are gone and they are updated. The only solutions I'm finding is too continue the game without any mods or cc, despite the countless hours i used going through them. Not to mention i just started a new game from scratch, and not to sound mean but sims 4 is just not fun without mods or cc. with so many talented creators it would be a shame to play the game without it. I'm just overly exhausted and done with the sims.

So you have confirmed that one or more of your Mods/CC is broken and there isn't yet an update for it. You can reenable your mods a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken then play with those that work until there is an update for those.

Hrm... well, therein lies the issue. Some players download mods to make the game itself work better for them or get rid of bugs. 🤔Anyway, the message seems to convey more about getting tired of the constant and ever growing bugs in game and now that the things that made the game playable for them are no longer working... a lot are beginning to find the process to be a never ending battle.

It is all summed up in the beginning of the post: constant game breaking updates, the game not saving, infinite loading screens, build items not showing up, the game not getting any better...

The game is truly becoming unplayable for a lot of Simmers. The bugs reports and complaints piling up about not being able to simply start the game is a glaring red flag. Now not even the mods PC users rely on can be used to fix some of the broken aspects.

this. I don't play mods or cc at all, and my game is still a constant mess of bugs. EA do fix a lot of bugs - I bitterly remember that gardens used to be unplayable with plants reverting to piles of dirt all the time, and they don't seem to do that now - but they add more bugs than they've fixed with every new patch or update, and a lot of game features are so badly thought out they might as well be bugs anyway. So the game just gets progressively worse and worse.

The workarounds aren't great either: closing down and restarting the game every couple of hours to make the latest glitch stop; gardening exclusively indoors to make plants look a healthy green instead of a sickly grey through most of the year; switching off autonomy to stop sims flirting with their wedding guests or other really bad life choices because there is no customisation in autonomy, it's either full or off, and even with autonomy switched off my sim still decided to jump-scare her boyfriend when I told them to make a baby, so now she has mischief unlocked which I try to avoid; and all the content about living off grid, about farm animals, and various similar topics that was very clearly created by someone who has never lived off grid or kept cows and hens .. and didn't bother to ask anyone who has lived or is living off grid with cows and hens for any creative input.

And since twitter got bought out by the fascists, we don't even have that platform to talk about the problems in public. EA was much more likely to fix bugs that were being talked about there than they are bugs that are only discussed here. They don't like having their dirty laundry aired for them in places where people who haven't already spent money on the game might hear how bad it is!

They need to stop archiving bug reports that haven't been fixed, and spend some of the money they've got from us to actually fix all the bugs, not just the ones that win popularity contests. And after that, they need to review long-standing problems with dlc concepts - everything from cats and dogs taking up playable household member slots even though we can't play as the cats or dogs, to those stupid janky dew machines for off-grid water instead of a nice reliable rainwater tank collecting roof runoff.
