Re: Parttime work should be fulltime

@NennaRC my fisherman catch additional fish during their spare time and do much better that way. If they have the Seldom Sleepy Reward Trait that helps a lot.

Or I use Register with Ministry of Labour on the mobile phone to give them the job title and park them at a fishing spot somewhere like Sulani (if you have Island Living) or the Forgotten Grotto or Sylvan Glade and they really clean up. I often tie in frog breeding too for bait and because I can make quite a bit from selling the rare ones I breed. The inventory fills up with all kinds of things to sell and it can be a really profitable hobby or career. I catch a lot of portable showers and cameras for some reason lol, so that's a bit random!

I like to pack a tent for them and some fruit to snack on depending on where they are fishing. For the Forgotten Grotto they are often there for a few days so they camp there. It's one of my favourite things to do in the game. 🐟

Edit: with the fishing, to supplement income. I've done a quick test to see where to earn the most extra money and I found Sulani and Forgotten Grotto made the most money fishing for 12hrs at a time. Forgotten Grotto has the most non fish items that earn quite a bit. My Sim caught a lot of Grammy phone old fashioned music players there which ended up in her build mode household inventory. She made around 3k simoleans fishing in those places which is not too shabby!

@simsplayer818 Yes, sure you can do much better by selling your own produce or fish that you fished. But, if you like I do, mostly play rotationally, it doesn't work. I currently play 36 households at the same time in different worlds, because I like to play the game that way with the variation it gives compared to concentrating on one household. This means I will only play each household 1/36 of the time. This also means that I can't follow all farmers, fishermen and other selfproducing sims that they really do sell to make a profit other than when I actually actively play that household. I need to know that they get a steady income that supports them even when I don't actively play their household. If there was a function in the sims which made it possible to set it up so that they actually could sell crop, fish, honey, juice or whatever themselves by stocking their shops, sales tables or whatever, that would be awesome. But as it is you need to actively play the household to make this possible. So, yeah your tips are great for playing one or a few households, not for rotational play.

  • @NennaRCThe problem with jobs and rotational play is that in my game none of my Sims go to work when I stop playing the household. So there's a bigger issue with them earning money while I'm not playing them. So I make my Sims wealthy before switching so I know I've left them with money. Even though it doesn't take bills from them either while I'm not playing them. I sometimes play a family split over several households and I like them all to have money in the bank even though they don't technically need it while I'm not playing their household. Collecting is one way to do that.
But there is a way I've found to carry on earning money while I'm not playing them (I  mentioned this on the other thread) and that is to set up a retail lot for them. I have retail lots for household decor and collectibles that all of my Sims go to when they get their first home, like flower arrangements and knitted items, a garden centre for all harvestables and art shops for paintings they've bought or created and loads of other things too. Obviously I can't do this for all of them though. But for the ones that do, when I go back to them the money from the retail stores is added to household funds when I load them up. I play these retailers rotationally when I'm restocking my stores.
But I'd still like my Sims to actively go to their jobs while I'm not playing the household and unfortunately the game just doesn't do that.

@simsplayer818 Well, I don't think retail works fine enough for rotational play as running/playing the stores that seldom won't generate enough money. If only the sims could run them properly also when I don't actively play their household, it would be great.

This, that they don't go to work or school when they aren't played is another issue, yes, but it must be a bug right? I mean sure, they should go to work and school also when we don't actively play the household. Basically life should go on as normally also when we don't actively play a household but are currently playing another one. If we have set neighbourhood stories it should work, as simple as that, that is my wish. Not only that, they should also fill in reports or whatever tasks are necessary for reaching the next promotion step, if I'm not playing the household. Otherwise their whole career comes to a stand still.

Also they don't socialise much or meet other sims when not actively played. Sure it happens but they more or less seem to not have done much at all in their life when I log in to each household, since I was there and played their household last time.

Please fix this for us Maxis.
