Reducing in game content.

Will there ever be a non-mod way of removing undesirable base game CAS content from the game?  Such as removing tattoo options, or skin colors, scars, clothing or piercings?  It is kind of tedious to constantly go into CAS and edit the crap out of sims to removing undesirable content.  It would be very helpful in the game autocreating sims that I don't like.

  • joemiller1972  I agree, it can be off putting to see all those weirdly dressed NPCs walking around in zones where you may want a certain look and feel vibe.   But you have to remember that the game has always been more or less about tongue in cheek humor since the original The Sims.  I consider the randomness of the NPCs appearance is more or less a way to continue that tradition.  Not that I really like it much myself, mind you.

Since I use CC, there are things I like to use on my played sims, so I always redress them when they age up anyway.  I don't even bother redressing NPCs anymore as I play with aging on for the NPCs.  But I find that if I use Neighborhood Stories with accidental deaths on for the NPCs in the Other tab of Manage Households, many of most badly dressed don't hang around very long.

So, that's one thing you can try, although if you do, you should probably move any sims you want to stick around to your My Households tab in Manage Households.  I do that for the RoM Sages, the CotL role sims such as the grocery stall vendor, creature keeper, mayor, etc., and butlers, paparazzi and a few others that I like and bothered to edit in CAS.  That way, they won't get culled or killed off by accidental deaths.  They will still die of old age though so if you want to keep them in your game forever, there are mods that can make them immortal if you are a mod user.

    Hope this helps.

  • The game really could use a hide option in CAS, letting you hide all the things you will never use. You could still view it by specifically picking the hidden things to show in the filters to unhide them.

With so many packs added over time it's just making especially CAS very bloated, it takes a long time to make sims in Sims 4. I am never able to do it in one sitting. And it's the picking outfits part that takes the longest. Not because I can't choose, I'm a straight guy with little fashion sense. It's because I have to wade through a lot of stuff I'd never use. Sure there's filters, but for me it would be way more helpful to hide what I'd never use since often I don't know yet what kind of Sim I want to make.

Anything hidden should not be used by random NPC's either.

I would not mind the option for buy mode either, though it's less bothersome for me there. I'd mainly want to hide a lot of hideous decorations to clean up that category a bit.

I would love the option to disable certain CAS content, ideally by save.

  • I think it would be fantastic to have an option to hide or disable content from packs that I don’t really use or like. As I collect more packs, my CAS is starting to feel quite cluttered, and honestly, it’s a bit of a mess right now! It would also be great if we could do the same with all the items in build and buy mode.

  • we need interchangible cas columnc (2-3-4-5) and hide item options. When we hide game wont generate townies in the save or we wont see items when we randomize the sim.
