Re: Testers for new update to prevent breaks?

This is the worst one yet, Ive never, in like 14 years of playing The Sims in general, been this upset. I finally trusted the game and EA and started a whole world, and Im so close to being done with EA in general.

There is apparently a patch but where is it? My EA hasnt asked to download anything. And also, almost any other game will let you play offline without updating, why does EA not?

I am already looking into alternatives for this game ngl, I am outta here if they don't fix this by the time I find an alternative or if this happens again. You cannot make a game that "welcomes" custom content and mods and also break everything every other month. Im done and I encourage you all to be done with this nonsense too

To add to this, we should not be ok with game breaking updates this often. If ANY OTHER game did this they would be dead in the water. This is crazy, most games don't allow modding and don't have this happen. I expect better from a professional team

You can play offline without updating. The setting to go offline is in the app, the three lines in the upper left.

Haven't had a problem with Offline mode as it can't tell you to update anything. Done so for a long time.

Reminder you CAN play whatever game you want you don't have to limit yourself to the Sims. I expect most that do just don't play many games outside of it and though there are some simulation games (or just playing cozy games) there's not one that's on par with this (for the moment). Been various games and triple A titles that have had game breaking bugs. With a game liek this and multiple DLC everything getting so bloated not surprised when it starts to get more difficult to pin point most problems.

Mods in general are already a gamble to use and break ones game though a lot of the online community does use it. Luckily, they did fix the issue with the game not reading .packages properly within 24 hours of the patch. At this point in time, most either left the community or you just been here for the long haul as there's already been so much with EA, since EA as a whole has never had that good of a rep to begin with.

Yes playing offline currently is working, however this is no longer a forever option and hasn't been for a while that is where the issue is. I've been happily playing offline since monday as I am so angry about the marketplace but I know eventually the EA App will throw up an Error Code about my 'license' having expired.. This could be 2 weeks, 2 months or two years but it will happen. The only way of then fixing this is to briefly play the game online so it can verify your game license before you can go back offline.

But guess what in order to do that you have to update to play online with how the EA App works. Yes playing offline works at the moment but at some point you are forced to update regardless. This is the problem when you don't actually own the game you've paid for. You are just buying a license to play and EA can remove that ability or change the terms on a whim. I wish I could lock my game at it's current version forever just like my physical Sims 3 games are if I installed from disc, they're mine. We only have access to temporary offline fuctionality not a true offline experience.

Being sick and tired of these updates and the constant breaking of saves, (where fixes are often only availble in new saves) is both a understandable and valid critisim. "But you can play offline" isn't a vaild response long term. No hate meant just pointing out the sad reality. ❤️
