Dear Sims Team,
First, I would like to thank everyone involved in creating and continuing to support The Sims franchise. I have been a longtime Sims player, and one of the things I love most about the game is the ability to tell unique stories and create different life paths for my Sims. Over the years, expansion packs have added incredible depth to careers, relationships, fame, and social experiences. However, I believe there is one major area of gameplay that remains largely unexplored: the music industry.
I would love to see a future expansion pack focused entirely on music careers, bands, singers, performers, and the journey from aspiring artist to international superstar.
While existing packs allow Sims to become musicians or celebrities, the gameplay surrounding music careers feels limited compared to the acting career introduced in Get Famous. A dedicated music expansion could provide players with an entirely new progression system and storytelling experience.
One feature I would love to see is the ability to create and manage bands. Players could form groups with multiple Sims and assign roles such as lead singer, guitarist, drummer, bassist, keyboardist, producer, or dancer. Band members could build chemistry through practice sessions, performances, and shared experiences. Just as relationships influence other aspects of gameplay, band dynamics could impact performance quality, creativity, and success. Disagreements, rivalries, creative differences, and even breakups could create dramatic and realistic storylines.
Another exciting feature would be a detailed music production system. Sims could spend time in recording studios creating singles, albums, mixtapes, or EPs. Players could select musical genres, record tracks, produce music videos, and organize album releases. New gameplay could include chart rankings, streaming numbers, music awards, and industry recognition. Watching a Sim gradually climb the charts would make the music career feel much more rewarding and immersive.
Live performances could become a major gameplay element. Sims could start by performing at local cafes, bars, and clubs before advancing to theaters, festivals, stadiums, and sold-out arena tours. Similar to the active acting career, players could directly participate in concerts and performances. Before a show, Sims might need to rehearse, warm up, manage nerves, and prepare backstage. During the performance, players could interact with the crowd, perform choreography, sing songs, and respond to unexpected situations.
A fanbase system would also add tremendous depth. As Sims become more popular, they could gain followers, fan clubs, superfans, and online communities. Fans might ask for autographs, take selfies, attend meet-and-greets, or send gifts. Popular Sims could experience both positive and negative publicity, including rumors, scandals, media attention, and public reputation management. This system would make fame feel more dynamic and connected to music careers specifically.
One idea that I think would be especially popular is an idol or trainee system inspired by real-world entertainment industries. Sims could audition for entertainment companies and enter training programs focused on singing, dancing, stage presence, and performance skills. They would attend dance practices, vocal lessons, evaluations, and rehearsals before eventually debuting as solo artists or members of a group. This progression system would give players a long-term goal and create meaningful challenges before achieving success.
Dance and choreography could become skills of their own. Sims could learn routines, practice with groups, improve synchronization, and unlock increasingly advanced performances. Dance practice rooms, rehearsal studios, and performance academies would provide new lots and venues for players to explore.
The social aspects of celebrity life could also be expanded. Famous artists might require security guards or bouncers at clubs and events. Paparazzi could follow them around town. Sims could attend award shows, red carpet events, industry parties, and exclusive VIP venues. These additions would make the journey to fame feel more realistic and immersive.
I also think a new world centered around entertainment would fit perfectly within this expansion. The world could feature concert venues, recording studios, rehearsal spaces, dance academies, entertainment company headquarters, celebrity neighborhoods, and nightlife districts. It would provide players with an exciting environment specifically designed around music and performance careers.
What makes this concept exciting is that it combines several popular aspects of existing gameplay—fame, social interaction, careers, nightlife, and storytelling—while introducing something entirely new. Music is one of the largest industries in the world, and many players enjoy creating stories involving singers, performers, bands, and celebrities. A dedicated expansion focused on these experiences would open up countless possibilities for creativity and gameplay.
Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion. Whether or not this idea becomes reality, I appreciate all of the work that goes into creating experiences that allow players to tell unique stories. I hope you will consider expanding the music industry within The Sims in the future.
Sincerely,
Mylayah 🤍
