Cultural Representation
Hi,
First I want to tell I'm very impressed by EA and Maxis for all the efforts they have made to include and respect the other cultures in The Sims.
World, clothing, hairstyle, food, radio station, objects, gestures, ... that is a very good job.
But there is still one thing wrong : Musical instrument.
Guitar is maybe universal but it sounds wrong when it's about Violin, Pipe organ, Piano in Sulani, for example I expected Traditional Polynesian instruments or Caribbean Steel Drums. And with Chestnust Ridge, Maxis also missed the opportunity to add harmonica or accordion with Tartosa.
Guitarists could learn new songs inspired by these cultures.
So it would be wonderful for a cultural aspect if The Sims 4 could include more musical instruments.
Willow Creek inspired by New Orleans should have saxophone and trumpet.
Southern swampy blues! One of my favorite genres in the blues section. 🙂
Piano, synthesizer and pipe organ share the same animation, maybe the guitar animation could be used to play :
- Banjo
- Bass guitar
- Charango
- Mandolin
- Turkish Oud
- Ukulele

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes 100 times more. I super agree with you and have wondered why they haven't come up with more in all the packs that have been introduced. There are paintings of musicians playing sax, trumpet, big bass cello, why no real instruments in game? And bagpipes? How about a whole Scottish/Irish Celtic theme for a game update?
Still waiting the day they will make this fully designed sax be functional to add spice to Willow Creek.
Also I still can't believe they didn't gave us any new instrument with Enchanted by Nature, when the fae folk is literally known for playing music around with flutes, harps and lyres. We can even make satyrs now with the pack but we don't have a pan Flute, the instrument of their master/God.
