What happened to Alarm Clocks?

I do miss my sims having to them woken up by alarm. What happened to them? They should be in decorations not electronics because they have no function. Were they meant to work I think but got left behind like the memory system.

    The SIMs wake up when no longer sleepy or when they have to go to work work/school. No need for an alarm clock.
