I have been reading all the feedback from all the brave souls that have been through hell on earth with this last updates. Some loosing all packs they have purchased and not getting any help from CS....
cvalencianoj Depends on how you define safe. Is the game completely error free and all bugs fixed? No. Is it safe enough from most people to play at this point. Yes. Will a new game get a bug? Probably at some point, could be tomorrow or 5 years from now.
My point is that if you want to play the game, then PLAY! Don't put off playing just because you might get hit by a bug. A bug will either hit your save, or it won't. You won't know until you try to play again. So, take the risk and PLAY!
MagicalCabbage13 One thing you need to check for in that save where you had that happen: Are there any lots in any world that are just gone when you enter them? Check all lots in all worlds. That is a sign of save corruption. If you can't find any missing lots, then there might be hope that the save can be saved. Otherwise, new save for you. Sorry for your loss. Been there, done that, TWICE! That bug isn't due to the recent updates. It's been around for several years now. It hit my save in mid 2023 and again in late 2025. And yeah, it hurts having to start over and takes a lot of time and effort to salvage lots and sims to keep from starting over from scratch. EA is aware that people are having the issue and is working on a fix. No ETA on that.
Yes, several lots are gone, they are either empty lots or the default build. Pretty much any lot that I had edited in this save has been reset, even the unoccupied ones, but the households are still attached to the lots where I left them. The only lot that wasn't affected was the last one I was working on. I tried loading into one of the empty lots to see if it was just the thumbnail on the map that was glitching or something, but sadly it was all gone. I took some screenshots of what the world maps look like and the empty lot that left me baffled.
Thank you for your help, I'm sorry that you had to deal with this yourself not only once but twice. This will serve as a firm reminder to me to ALWAYS save my lots to my Library and the Gallery. Time to pour one out for my save file, I guess. 😅
At least this only affected one save file, but it just had to be my main one. 😞
I don't know how true it is, but I have seen other people post on other threads dealing with similar problems that there is some kind of hidden counter for residential rentals, similar to the Sim Counter, and that if you go over this threshold it can cause this issue. Again, I don't know how much truth is behind this, but I may keep this in mind on the new save.
