I made a new family for the reapers rewards and in anticipation of the new expansion. Everything is updated and I go in. I started with making 1 teen sim, but decided to add a sister and moms. But when I got to the parents CAS started slowing down so I exited and saved the teens. And then went back in under cas.fulleditmode. Suddenly it wouldn't let me have two mothers even though that was always okay before, and the moms were married. It even said you can't edit pre-made sims in the family drop down. I even made the 2nd parent a regular sim I added in, and the other from genetics, still no luck. That mom is down as a step-mom. So then I tried MCC to fix it, and no luck. Only one of them is allowed to be the biological mother which is weird. And I've never run into this issue with any mods before. In fact, mods helped fix most family bits. So I don't know that this is a mods issue.
Also when I went back into CAS, the teens's faces had changed. Skintones, skin details, cheeks, eyes, hair color. I basically had to remake them.
To add some clarification:
I did try to going with the 2nd parent being a father genetically had any affect. As a father there was no issue, even with the other parent also being from one of the sister's genetics. (Which is usually fine) but when I switched sex to female it suddenly didn't work. Then I deleted that sim and added another without genetics and still no 2nd mom. And here are some pictures of the sister's originally (not the best angles I was taking the pictures to send to a friend) and then after when I had to remake them.

(her entire face shape changed the eldest just had skin color, details, and eyes change)
