Re: Meals greyed-out, sims can't cook or bake

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.44
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? expansions: cats & dogs, city living, cottage living, discover university, get famous, get to work, seasons, game packs: dream home decorator, parenthood, spa day, vampires, stuff: laundry day, nifty knitting, tiny living
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Playing the game
What happens when the bug occurs? When I try to have my sims cook/make a meal, the food options are all blurred out, making them unable to make food. the only thing they can do is order.
What do you expect to see? Sims being able to make food.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. After downloading Cottage Living, my sims have been unable to cook

    @alexisbiancax it's probably not a bug, you're most likely playing on one of the new lots that has the new "Simple Living" Lot Challenge activated.

    It's a new lot challenge (something they've extended from Lot Traits) that comes with Cottage Living. It means that you cannot cook anything unless you actually have the ingredients on your sim's inventory or in the fridge.

    If you want to turn that off, just go into build mode, go to the lot traits and challenges panel and remove it.

    @crinrict I do have Cottage Living and once I turned off the Lot Trait for Simple Living I was able to bake a cake. I had eggs both in the refrigerator and in my Sim's inventory, but couldn't make anything that required eggs until I turned off the Simple Living lot trait.

    @SwtlyEvil It sounds like removing the 'Simple Living' lot trait was a good idea and worked well for you. 🙌

    Just in case this part was unclear from the thread, with the 'Simple Living' lot trait you have specific ingredients that you must have in order to make any particular food, and otherwise it will remain greyed out in options. A cake, for instance, will require the that the refrigerator in the house has the needed ingredients listed when you hover over the item on the list that you want to cook (or the Sim you want to cook it will need the ingredients in their personal inventory). 

    With the 'Simple Living Lot Trait' active on the lot, to make a White Cake, for instance, your Sim will need one egg, one flour, and one sugar (see screenshot below). The egg can be purchased or from your own hen, but the flour and sugar will need to come from the grocery store.

    For example, if I try to direct my Sim to bake a cake that has the ingredients in the refrigerator (such as the Chocolate Cake or White Cake in this example), the options are not greyed out for her because she has the eggs, flour, sugar, and Chocoberry in the refrigerator. However, she has no option to bake a Honey Cake, as there is no honey in the refrigerator, and it is listed as a required ingredient (with the 'Simple Living Lot Trait' active on the lot):

    But... another Sim on the lot does have honey in her personal inventory, so she also has the 'Honey Cake' option available to her:

    Im having this issue. I do not have the simple living trait but im being forced to have every ingredient?

    @JaedynO Can you post a screenshot of the popup that shows what ingredients are required? Please also include in your screenshot the part of the pop up that shows your Sim... like this one:

    Is your box unchecked that says "Use Fresh Ingredients" (right under the picture of the sim in the popup)?

    I'm having this issue with my level 10 skill sim where she can't even make simple scrambled eggs. I only get obsidian and golden egg options. It doesn't even list the scrambled eggs at all. I don't have the simple living lot trait on and I don't have an cc or mods that messes with the cooking in the game.
