Re: Not a Bug, Normal 7 day seasons too short for spawn at science lab.

@Sid1701d9, yes, I've noticed the dig piles that we sometimes now get instead of a dig rock. I started noticing this after Cats & Dogs, though. ๐Ÿคจ Sometimes I still get something good from the dig piles , like metal, crystals, My Sims trophies , or fossils , but other times its just upgrade parts or rotten fish.๐Ÿค’

But, while the dig rocks do have different appearances (some have crystals sticking out like you said, and others look like a fossil) I have actually gotten all types of items from all types of dig rocks. :eahigh_file: I think they just look different to show you what you might find inside, but that it has no real bearing of what actually is inside.  If they always showed what was inside, then we would never get My Sims Trophies at all, because there is no dig rock that looks like any of the My Sims. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Same goes for voodoo dolls, which I've found in the rocks.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

@PugLove888From what I've seen, the ones that look like rocks with crystals or something in them can give any number of things, maps, time capsules, metal, crystals, however the dig piles that look like just dirt, I've only gotten fossils, and I think time capsules. I think I got a fish once...

I think there are a two types. The clusters in the science lab are always the rock ones. However on other lots, public lots, The spawner appears to randomly change between the rock one and the dirt pile one.

@Psychotps, yes, I've forgotten about the maps, which is funny since I get them all the time, so you would think I would have mentioned them! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ  On the dirt piles, I get mostly repair parts, followed by fish. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ:eahigh_file: Very rarely have I gotten a fossil, but it has happened a handful of times.  I think I also got time capsules/MySims trophies in the dirt pile as well, but only about as often as the fossils.  ๐Ÿ˜‰ I can't remember if I got a map from the dirt pile or not.   I wonder what the rate of getting each item is?๐Ÿค”

@PugLove888 Not sure. I tend to get the time capsules quite often on both, but they are always the playful figurines. I get the fossils quite often. I think the map only guarantees a time capsule on one of them. I rarely use the map because I already get a lot of the capsules.

I'd much rather get crystals more often.

@Psychotps, I agree โ€ฆ I would much rather have the crystals since they can be used for other things!โค๏ธ I haven't gotten many fossils in the dirt piles, but I have gotten quite a lot of them from the dig rocks.  I do use the maps because it bothers me to have them in my inventory, and if I get a MySims trophy I already have , I either sell it from my inventory, or I take it and trade it at the Flea Market on Sundays. At least that way I get a little something for my efforts. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@PugLove888 I usually keep one or maybe two of the figurines, it can be handy having something that gives a Playful boost, like when painting or writing a book. And just sell the rest.

I don't care about the maps at all, I just sell them. Using them takes a tiny bit of time, more clicks, and only guarantees a capsule, which I was very likely to get anyway. Maybe if they were more rare and contained more expensive stuff... it IS a "treasure" map after all...

Yes, I agree that treasure maps should at least have the more expensive My Sims trophies in them, like Goth Boy and TOBOR.  That and/or more rare metals and crystals! ๐Ÿ˜‡  I keep more of them depending on my the personalities of the Sims I'm playing at the time. Hopper, Poppy, Buddy are great in kids rooms.  And I love Elmira Clamp and Trevor Verily in libraries! ๐Ÿค“  But I can see why you sell most of them.  I also played the My Sims games quite often some years ago, so I do have an affection for the characters โค๏ธ , even if the amount of trophies we get is ridiculous! ๐Ÿค’

@PugLove888 It's particularly annoying at the Science Lab. Occasionally you'll get the daily task Collection Day(?). You have to go out and collect 10 crystals or metals. It's severely annoying because usually 50% of the time you get time capsules and another 10-20% are maps or other items. I end up having to excavate 20-30 rock digs in order to get the 10 crystals/metals and invariably end up with a pile of those figurines.

@Psychotps, yes, I agree, especially since at the Science Lab you have a limited amount of time!  I always end up having to stay late on the day we are assigned to collect materials because of this.  ๐Ÿ˜ž

@PugLove888 Exactly! The darn thing takes half the day. It was worse when I didn't have my Scientist Career gardening fix I made, Since a lot of the tasks required gardening they couldn't be completed. It made normal days very difficult to get to gold, it made "Collection Days" nearly impossible.

If you ask your co-workers for crystals and metals that also counts.as does cloning them.

@jpkarlsen Really... I never even thought to try that. I suppose if I get close and don't care to keep digging, I can use that... awesome!

@Sid1701d9 Well, all I know is in the regular worlds, (outside from the science lab), the spawn points for digs/excavating are random. They move around in the same general area and seem to randomly alternate between "digs" and dirt "excavations". But the science lab ones seem to be different. I've NEVER seen them as anything but the "dig" ones. Likely because you need the dig's metals and crystals for the job.

Well the science lab should only have the rock and crystal dig sites, but after the Sims 4 Pets came the game started spawning dirt piles to dig in if cats and dogs are around they can pickup certain things and take them to their owners as little white blue present boxes.  Sometimes they are pink and white though do have some excellen stuff in there from catnip to dog cat toys to dog and cat treats, also fish, low quality to high quality even angel fish, death flower and  pretty munch anything.

Edit I also have seen a cat and down spawn as visitors to the science lab.  it cracked me up must have been a bug.
