@evanboulet  I just downloaded Discover University yesterday and I am getting ready to play around with this new roommate system. It must be going by how many total household members you have, pets included. What happens if you try to delete two of the beds after you get a roommate?

Oh btw, maybe another thing you could try is to make a hidden basement (no stairs) under your house and put two cheapy beds in there & see if your Sim and the roommate are happy with the other two beds. At least the visible part of your house will look the same and the cats are going to sleep wherever the heck they want anyway! xD
