@EA_Mai I bought sims 4 university and it is not working, I just updated my sims with the legacy edition..... if its not compatible how do i fix that?

@Kaykay110498 if you don't have another computer that would support The Sims 4 and Discover University, I'd recommend getting in touch with one of our advisers, so they can check if your computer OS can be updated to a version supported by The Sims 4, or look into what options you would have - they'll do their best to help you!: https://help.ea.com
You need to make it compatible! Because I know I didn’t waste $40 dollar for a game I can’t play due to a forced update!

If you downloaded the " Legacy Edition "
Make sure when you go to origin application and on to your sims 4 game and you will see a little settings button, click it, and go to "Game Properties".
It will open up and it will have two options "General" and "Advanced Launch Options".
Go to "Advanced Launch Options" and there will be a "When launching this game..." drop box.
Make sure you change the option to "The sims 4 64 Bit" or depending on what kind of system you have it will say your computer's version. Just make sure it is NOT selected as "The sims 4 Legacy Edition " 🙂 make sure you save your selection.
I did that and the game is working for me now. Hope this helps!!!! I've tried to go through origins to get e refund since I'm not allowed to play this and i told me the game doesn't qualify. it definitely does i just bought it this morning and have photos of me going through the hoops, and getting messages telling me no i can't have my money back or play the game. I'm so frustrated please help i would like my money before the 14 day period is up and I'm out of options and stuck with this disappointment

Don't lauch the game.
Go to ORIGIN.
Go to your game library.
Click on the Sims 4.
It ahould show you a settings button.
That's where you'll find it. 🙂

- @xoprincesitanani So under my advanced launch options it only has a bit that says “game language” and “command line arguments” no other drop down options 😢
- @pinkezdaangel08 I am running High Sierra OS 10.13 on my iMac and it says the same thing, with no other drop down options.
I think a class action lawsuit is coming since no one from EA has even come on tho this thread with answers or solutions. I have the same problem, but when I go to "Advanced Launch Options" in Game properties I can only see "Game language" and "Command line arguments"?
yep and I've put in two claims so far since the first one said i would be contacted in about 2.5 hours but that was at 9 am.i can't get a hold of anyone to make this right. I'm so frustrated!i really hope they at LEAST say something to all of us stuck without money or our game
We might have to launch a class action suit. No where in the advertising for this expansion does EA warn the game is limited to the 64 bit machines. All the ad blurb says on the Origin site and EA site is the machine must have the minimum requirements for the base game Sims 4 to play this expansion. I will research some lawyers. I share my findings here.
Think I found one Pelton Graham LLC they are admitted to practice in. Ali for is the headquarters of EA.
- @candacebritney Hi, i spoke to the ea online chat and they issued me with a refund.
i have the proper specs and it still didn't work with my legacy version and i couldn't uninstall legacy version because then sims won't even launch. i have OS x el capitan 10.11.6. i don't have the drop down bar option to launch it differently or any other option. EA contacted me and issued a full refund.
- @candacebritney Hi if you have the right requirements then you don't need to use legacy. University will not work with legacy mode.
In that other paragraph I said how the game wouldn't launch the game without legacy as soon as it released. i tried to play the game like normal and it gave me an error and made me download legacy. I looked at my specs once someone pointed that out for uni. not working fully expecting my computer to be out of date however I'm running 10.11.6 os x el capitan according to that it should work. I've been reading about this since that first post and have tried everything suggested. so now I'm confused and bummed but at least have a refund.

Spoiler(Posts merged by CM)Me: I am having issues with playing the Sims 4 University. I think it is due to running and older iMac and issues with being required to download the Sims Legacy. I first downloaded Sims 4 University and when trying to play the game I got an error message: unable to start, initialization error at start up with a bunch of numbers - this is was led me to having to download the Sims Legacy. The game would then work in startup but the Sims 4 University does not show up in "my collection" when playing the game even though I have purchased it
EA support: Please do not worry! I know how inconvenient it can be when you are facing issues with the expansion pack, I will surely look into the details and would provide the best possible resolution for it.

EA support: Hey i checked that for you.Currently we're facing the issue with university pack.To which the studios are working hard to fix this.
Me: Do you think it is because older mac's do not have OS metal? I see this is a requirement and had to do extensive research to figure out if I had metal or not. If this is the issue, it should be stated more clearly as this is a spec that you have to do research into figuring out you have it or not - after which I have already paid $50
Me: Also, I would like to know why I can no longer use the online community store with having to download the Sims Legacy ?
EA support: Yes i can completely understand your anxiousness with the same. The legacy update has just been released which is why the patches and bugs have been identified as they are being reported by the players.
EA support: It is because the new patch is to be updated so it has been removed.
EA support: Would you like a refund?
Me: Are you aware if the new patches/updates will no longer need to be running Metal ?
EA support: Well I am currently unaware about this, as this is related to the game which is done by the studios.
Me: I would like a refund then please
EA support: I have processed the refund from my end. You'd be receiving the amount in 7-10 business days.
Me: Thank You. How do I stay on top of updates, patches, etc. by the game studio? So that if I want to repurchase the game I will know if it will work or not instead of doing the same thing ?
EA Support: You'd need to follow the twitter page of EA and keep a close watch on the forums.

If you need Legacy (like me) then you can't play. I received a full refund from EA.
