Re: Trash Fruit - What is its use?

@burin077 Trash fruit is trash and can grow into a trash plant that is also worthless and produces more of the basically worthless trash fruits. Trash left on the yard will turn into a trash plant and make trash fruit. They are basically worthless and a waste fo your efforts/time to water, and the space they take up. I would delete them all. I think it's mainly a joke (like that the dog poo makes good fertilizer, but it is not an option to use it to fertilize with... Correction to this one... check @jpkarlsen post below. Hahaha) I would say, in my experience, the only upside of a trash plant is at least it's fruit that didn't fester and become an unmovable 'glitched' item on the ground (I've had that in the past - no fun... I didn't know sims would actually eat them if you tell them to! Ewww... :eahigh_file:

You could use them for fish bate, but you can also use other fruits, veggies, herbs, etc. for that...

Your sim's gardening efforts and use of yard space will be much better served by planting a dragon fruit plant (you can download from my gallery) and making thousands of dollars per harvest of them.  🙂 But if in the storyline of your sims you are having fun with their trash plant go for it! Bottom line... I have gardened and cooked a lot in the game and have never found a use for them.

    @SheriGR

    Actually you can use dog poo as a fertilizer. You just need to pick it up click on a plant, select Fertilize and it will be among other items from your inventory that can be used as fertilizers.

    @jpkarlsen Really? I just recently asked several others in a thread about this and they said no, it must be a joke. At that point I had tried and couldn't find any option ot use it to fertilize (and this was a high-quality garden and a gardening career household  with Gardening at 10). So weird. I will have to give it a try again. Good to know! Thank you!  Now that you said that... can trash fruit work for fertilizer?

    Hmmm...Just checked @jpkarlsen and this is the conversation where I asked about the dog poop... guess we were not all positive, though. Now you know a use for your dog poo, @PugLove888 ! Hahaha! https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-Information/how-do-you-fast-que-tasks/m-p/7164524/highlight/true#M8315  🙌 😬 😃

    It has never occured to me to try and use trash fruit as fertilizer. Perhaps I will try that one day. If I by accident create a trash plant.

    Thanks @SheriGR and @jpkarlsen. 😇  I always suspected that it might be usable for fertilizer, but then again it could be just for an added touch of realism / being a good Sim citizen!   Nice to know it has a use!  Now I wonder if when they give rainbow or golden poops if that increases the strengthen of the fertilizer or not? 🤔  I really need to combine gardening with dogs since I haven't really done that yet! 😳😇

    @burin077, I think in previous versions of the Sims (TS2 and/or TS3) that trash plants might have been used as fertilizer or compost.  I can't remember exactly.  🤭  But I only have  or 3 of my many households that have trash plants so I hadn't tested it because the idea of a trash plant repulses me! 🤒  I have it on one household lot because the owner is a mad scientist with several half-alien daughters and it just seemed fitting 😉 and another household that was planted by accident.  (I think either and angry neighbor kicked the trash over or a lazy Sim got sidetracked while attempting to take out the trash! 😃)  One day the plant just appeared right next to the outdoor trashcan!   I need to make a garden household with a couple of dogs and a trash plant and see what I come up with!  🤓😉:eahigh_file:
