Re: Why is the microscope so huge?

Reviving this thread with some ideas to inspire another object resize. The Sims is soon planning to #FreeTheCupcakes away from the Cupcake Factory, maybe it's time to revisit the Microscope that is still obtrusively HUGE in 2023. A simple table-top microscope would be a great addition to the game.

Yes, this "macro" microscope object is likely huge because its a caricature of it's real life counterpart, the electron microscope, which is also quite large. But what if your science Sim wants to live in a tiny home? Does a rancher Sim with a scientist spouse have to choose between a 4x4 horse-bed or a 2x5 microscope on their 30x20 lot?

There is already an animation and object model in the game for a tabletop microscope when you look at the Junior Wizard Starter Set object. The animations need only be scaled for age Teens+ Sims. A seated adult Sim could perform the same animations.

And as with the Observatory, print collectibles can only be earned using the larger Microscope. The Observatory update introduced 10 new Lunar prints. A microscope update could similarly offer new collectible prints.

Currently 12 prints can be collected by analyzing plant/fossil samples on the large microscope. Below are some new suggested Microscope Prints to add to the game, some promoting cross-pack integration. Yay! More wall art!

BASE GAME

  • Pollen
  • New Fossils
  • Minerals
  • Space Rocks & Meteors

CROSS-PACK

  • Outdoor Retreat - Insects
  • Island Living - Shells
  • Get To Work - Geode
  • Get To Work - Patient Bio Sample, Doctor career
