Re: Will NPC's start a relationship?

@catandlenny, when you say "vampire child" do you mean a vampire teen or adult child of one of your Sims, or do you mean a vampire elementary school-aged child of one of your Sims.  No Sim of the Child life stage can flirt or be flirted with ๐Ÿค’ .  As for teens and older Sims, they can be flirted with, of course, which you probably already know! LOL ๐Ÿคญ

As for the NPC's, it depends.  If they are like the Mail Carrier, The Repairman, The Maid, etc. they won't flirt while they are working.  You can invite them to hang around and then they could flirt with you if they have the flirty character trait or you watch the Romance Channel on TV together, but there are no guarantees.  Sometimes Service NPCs will get stuck at your house though.  They might show up at a club, restaurant, or festival or park around town, but this is more hit and miss, unless you invite them yourself.  But you can always invite them somewhere as friends and then see where things end up.๐Ÿคจ

As for other NPCs that aren't providing services (Townies), they can show up at these places too.  But even if you engage in conversation with them, flirting isn't likely to happen, until you know them better or unless they have the flirty trait.  If you have the City Living Pack, then a great idea is to go to the Romance Festival when it is in town and hang out with Sims drinking the Sakura Tea.โค๏ธ  To prevent your Sim from initiating the flirting, don't have your Sim drink the tea.  The tea puts Sims in a flirty mood, so any Sim drinking the tea is much more likely to flirt with your Sim!

I don't know of any cheats to make another Sim flirt with yours, but there is a cheat to make them married, but you probably don't want to go about it this way for story telling purposes. You can always have them move in as a roommate/friend and then let things slowly progress, but then they wouldn't be a NPC Sim anymore. Also, If your Sims paints and is in a flirty mood on their own, have them paint a flirty picture and hang it in your Sim's home.  Turn the aura on and it will emit a flirty vibe.  Then invite the NPC Sim over and talk to them while near the painting and they will be more likely to flirt with you (unless they have the unflirty trait).

I hope this helps you!  Please feel free to update us on what happens with your "socially awkward vampire child"!  Best of luck and Happy Simming! ๐Ÿฅณ

@catandlenny, LOL I understand about your Sims being like your children! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ โค๏ธ  I'm so glad I could help you! ๐Ÿ™‚  Please update me if you manage to get an NPC to flirt with your socially awkward Vamp! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I have a question to add to this subject, if I can!

Will Townie Sims that are in a relationship with my Sim, and both relationship bars are full, eventually propose on their own or do I always have to initiate that particular interaction?

Thank you so much in advance! ๐Ÿ™‚

@sammyjogirl77 I don't know much about this, but pretty sure you need to initiate it. I really hope when it's on full bars, there's a random chance the NPC may initiate it autonomously though.

@catandlenny One thing I myself just recently realized, there IS a base attraction involved. Two sims may have naturally an easier time with romance than others. I could never figure out why in the past when I would have two sims try to romance and they'd have a heck of a time with it. But with two other sims, the romance would practically run itself.

But the qiestion remains that will a non-controled Sim ever initiale a marriage proposal?  I have never seen it in my game, but then again, I have never tested this either.

@PugLove888 Good question. I've never seen it either. It's hard for me to say as I'm using MCCC to handle story progression. Sims marry all the time in my game. But in a "live" mode, no, I've never seen it "automatically" happen, even with mods.

Flirting and woohoo's, sure. Those happen all the time automatically.

Yes!  Some romantic interactions are certainly automatic!  But I wonder if NPCs are programmed not to propose?  Or is it just that they can, but that it is rare?  Or are they proposing, just not to my Sims who are in a relationship with them?  They could be proposing amongst themselves, for all we know! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

@PugLove888 It's probably more likely that there is a list of "automatic" interactions somewhere in the game and things like "propose" simply isn't on it.

Well, either way... my point was that I was wondering if this was programmed or not! ๐Ÿ˜‰

@PugLove888 Me too. I'd really like to know what automatic interactions there are. I know the game has a list, I just don't know where it is. There has to be a list or else mods like MCTuner wouldn't work.

@Psychotps, that is what I was wondering... just what is on that list and what isn't!  I don't make CC or Mods, so I have to rely on those that know this kind of stuff. We might find out eventually.

@Psychotps, I remembered to ask someone I know who is more tech savvy than I am who plays the game and they didn't think that Townie NPCs could propose autonomously.  While this isn't a definitve answer, the person does know code , so I assume he has looked into it. If Ihear anything different , I'll let you know. ๐Ÿ™‚

@PugLove888 Definitely. I'd love to know. I might research MCTuner in Sims4Studio and see how it works. That's exactly what it does. You add in an exception for an automated interaction and it stops it from running automatically. It must be interacting with that list.
