Re: [WORKAROUND] Post Processing effects in-game and depth of field opinion

Hello.

Just to make sure it's clear - many modern games have a depth-of-field blur effect.  You have the ability to turn it off in Sims 4 though, if you don't like it (through the Post Processing Effects option, as previously mentioned).

That said, if the blur is not being applied properly (as in, if it's blurring all objects of varying distances, or it's not behaving consistently, etc.), it may be a bug, which can be reported in the Bug Reports section.

This thread can be used for general feedback on the blur effect in the game (whether you like it or don't like it, whether you think it's too blurry or not blurry enough, etc).

Thank you 🙂 .

I would say this is the case.
    Here are some examples:
    (Normal weather.)

    (Thanks @puzzlezaddict for the screenshots.)

The Hut is clearly more blurred in ground view than it is in a high camera view.
It also leads to distortions on the water.

Here it is visible that objects get blurred that are way to near to the camera, and that it has effects even on very near objects (the plant, the house as well) that I think should not be affected.

That is also visible in the screenshots of @SheriGR.

I personally think that this feature is not working as intended, at least not on some high end NVIDIA and AMD GPUs,
That is why I would like to move this thread into the Bug section.

    Hello @holger1405

I've been told that the team isn't considering this to be a bug, as that's the way Depth-of-Field interacts with the water shader in the game.  Your feedback is noted though.

    Thank you.

What about PlayStation 4 players? 🥺

We don't have turn off Post Processing Effects option. 🙁

Can we get an option to get rid of depth-of-field blur effect?

    Pretty please. 🥺

I don't like that effect in any game, it feels as if my eyesight was actually blurring. That blurr hides the beauty of The Sims 4 environments.

Jogging first person camera view default height (Sims must have a terrible eyesight to have these houses so blurred!):

Jogging first person view after me manually looking up a little (I would like to have this clarity all the time.):

    *Edit*

    One more example.

When I look down at a park, background buildings are crisp:

When I look up to look at these buildings, blurred!:

Really sad it works like that and that we can't turn it off.
