Scientist Career Won’t Work Properly

I have been playing the scientist career from Get To Work and my Sim can’t fulfill his work assignment anymore.  He is being told to make a serum, but when I go to make a serum on the chemistry lab, ...

Hi Tomsde are there any tooltips as to why they are greyed out ?

As for the freezer gun, sounds like it's invisible or something. Does it let you invent another one ?
