Any way for terrain tools to go right up to walls?
Can terrain tools please be fixed so they go right up to the walls of a building? This looks ugly with that gap all the way round. Does anyone have a way to make this look better? I can’t use rock...
@GeordieJLK Please reference this video at about minute 11 on. It has a very creative workaround that I think you may like? (Thanks, BluebellFlora) https://youtu.be/3PclVovRth4
First, create a basement. then select it underground when you cam above ground it will look like pic one. Then you click on the yellow line and then click remove. then you have what you see in pic two. Otherwise, then no the terrain tool will not let you push the dirt up against the walls.
@GeordieJLK I tried @RavenLure 's method and was able to make the full floor above ground. I will try to make you a video to show how. It will take me a bit... hold on.
Sorry to me to-post, do you mind explaining how you managed to get the room above ground and the terrain flush? I have built a whole house already and really want to be able to do the terrain as it needs to be.
@nottovvy Welllll... Terrain height tools are my friend and nemesis. Terrain height can be super easy, extremely fidgety, or somewhere in-between, depending on your goals, lot, and the stage of building that you are currently at. Hopefully this info will be of some use to you in your situation:
Use the"Raise Terrain" / "Lower Terrain" tools to raise or lower the terrain. Note: With this tool and the other terrain tools, you can adjust the shape, size, speed, and softness of the brush/raising process in the slider settings:
A handy thing I usually follow up with after raising the terrain is to follow with the "Smooth Terrain" tool:
The "Flatten Terrain" tool is handy if you want to flatten an area of the raised/lowered terrain to a specific height. (the height will be where you place the white square in the center of the tool.):
Edit: Please note that in the case of what I mentioned above the home is on a foundation already. Does your home have a foundation? If the above is not what you meant, and if it doesn't help to read through the posts on this thread and to watch the video linked to in the solution (post #21), can you add a post with a screenshot and clarify what is different in your lot from the above and from the information in this thread?
@GeordieJLK Okay... I hope that I did this correctly for what you want to do in your build, and for what @RavenLure was intending. Please let me know if I did it incorrectly. If I did it wrong hopefully RavenLure will come back and demonstrate it correctly. Sorry if I misunderstood anything.
@GeordieJLK Yes, that won't work with what I tried. Perhaps I misunderstood what @RavenLure was recommending and she will have a clarification. Your photo is a great goal! Interesting and lovely build! That does remind me of the build from Aljay. I would dearly love to make a proper walkout, but it just won't work as, in any way I've found. But she did some clever workarounds, as it looks like you are finding some creative ideas as well.
