What happened in your game today?
Hi everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the new forum so far. I know I am!! I'm Charla, a big fan of The Sims 4! ☺️ I was going to join on the old one, but, as it only had a week left I decided to wait until today. I loved lurking on the what happened in your game today thread so I thought would create a new one here. So what's happened in your game today? Today in my game I was playing as a character I created, Lauren Lord. She's an young adult, who dreams of being an author and a mom. Currently she's working as a school teacher, but today she had no work, she stayed at home and played chess and tended to her plants (when it wasn't raining!). I also made this new Sim :) hope the pic works! Look forward to seeing what's happening in your games. X
Family recipes
I've not yet fully explored this great feature, except having a few families create a recipe without really seeing it in a bigger picture. These recipes are not only brilliant ways to "cheat/comfort" household members, but I will use them to add some uniqueness to some of my families. They already focus on different ways through life, and I welcome more ways to add to this. Would love to learn how you found ways to benefit from this feature. I might have missed some info... Creating the recipe seems pretty straight forward. Learning how to unlock the special touch to add to the recipe helps planning this all. Like, for the family that focus a lot on skills and education, I must wait until a household member actually graduates, because a graduation seems required to unlock the "Academic Ace" special touch. So I guess the first step will be focusing on unlocking the desired touch? Normally I will choose a recipe that requires a certain cooking level, because I want a certain job to be done before you can learn the family recipe. If you must first reach Cooking lvl 6, it needs to be a set goal - at least in my game most sims won't be that good at Cooking. One detail I'm not sure that I got right is whether also the sim learning the recipe must beforehand have access to the special touch? Or is the special touch in the recipe once and for all, and only the sim creating the recipe will need to have it unlocked? I really love this feature. Except from a very few special touches, I think they will be quite useful during several generations and a way to make families diverse. I also might create recipes that can be sold in cafees etc. By placing a group dish in a "refrigerate display" other households can visit any community lot to eat from it, won't even need to be an owned business. I'm not sure if the effect from a special touch will be restricted to household members or to the home lot, though, but I hope anyone eating it gains the effect. Like if you get ill, visit the "Healthy food café" to recover faster by eating their special dish including the Home Remedy touch. Wanna share how you use the feature? Did you find smart ways to benefit from it? Or did you create the recipe, and then never served it again?
Townie Fashion Police
Sul sul, Simmers. Townie Fashion Police was one of my favorite threads in the "old forum." It was always good for a few laughs. Z and I think it's time to bring it back, and so does our friend Daniel. When your festival attire is more outlandish than that of the cosplayer you're sitting with, that's a job for the Townie Fashion Police. "What did I do to deserve this?" Daniel asks the camera. Seeker of Secrets
I recently created a new Sim for my save, and since she's in PR, I thought giving her the nosy trait and the Seeker of Secrets aspiration is fitting. I wasn't aware of how much fun that aspiration is! So far, she has found ten out of 31 secrets and will very likely leverage a few of them, depending on how the Sims behave. One is already on her black list after telling her "Our club is very exclusive. You don't fit in". The second she finds out that Sim's secret, she'll leverage it 😈 My very favourite secret is Vladislaus Straud's. It's called "Moo-Hoo". The gist: Once upon a time, Vlad had a cowplant he brought to work to attract more customers. But as the cowplant kept growing, its hunger grew, too. Eventually, it started eating customers and Vlad's boss, so he locked it away in a safe place. I think it's random which Sim spills which secret, but I thought that one was especially hilarious 😂 Others I have encountered: hates pickles; believes in Moon Bears; has pool PTSD; is jealous of Grim's elegance; collects socks; returns gifts he doesn't like to the Sim who gifted them; took a space trip as a toddler; washes dishes in bathroom sink every now and then; fantasizes about the stove catching fire because flames are so pretty; left an abandoned dog to its own devices because it had creepy eyes. I'm having so much fun with this inspiration and the trait! Also, I discover things about my own Sims I didn't know, like one of them being jealous of Grim's elegance. Some of these secrets can be worked into gameplay, too - like the "I return gifts I don't like"-secret, or the sock thing (that Sim is gonna end up with socks on every single outfit, no matter if it looks good or not), and I think with a little bit of imagination and role-playing, the pool PTSD might work, too. And the Grim thing? That Sim is gonna buy the Grimophone next time I play with her so she can meet Grim in person and fangirl over him like there's no tomorrow 😁Funny pics
Do you ever capture pictures from fun or awkward situations in your game? Often my sims will make me smile just because they did position weirdly, making a totally normal situation look funny. - Hello again, Hairdresser, I got a complaint! But I Cleared Their Marriage, Already, So Why?
I have done something some would consider rather silly. I do a Save As with each gaming session, so I can easily go backward and select an already played moment in time and do whatever I wish with it. I recently went back to the time right before the Cantrell kids and Kayleigh Golden went off to Uni. I made certain to clear Kayleigh's marriage and also Erik's so I could see just how they grew to become a couple. Well, they started off with a short green bar, which is what I wanted. Only he takes her home and at one point complimented her outfit, which should unlock the possibility for love. When I checked their bar, full pink. They fell for each other and they fell hard. 🤪 Any time I've restarted these two families, I always thought it was because in prior iterations of them, they were BFFs and very much in love with each other. So, now I'm uncertain what to think. If clearing their marriage doesn't bring them back to square one, what does? 😮 Has anyone else had such an experience where you've used the same two Sims to have them leap from barely friends to BFFs to True Love? I’m ready for my successful actress to settle down and have a child. I don’t want her to have a science baby, I’d like to pick a baby daddy who will be a scoundrel and have nothing to do with the child. Don Lothario is the obvious choice but I’m not picking in.
