When a player has more fun playing Sims4 after adding several game play mods, it becomes very apparent the game is lacking on many levels. While Sims3 was my favorite iteration and played on a daily basis, I needed mods to fix bugs/issues that made the game almost unplayable. But there was so much to do, adding mods was simply a way to correct things like routing issues and lighting so I could immerse myself in complex game play. In Sims4 the lack of complex Sims with traits that matter, with emotions that control the AI in ways that sometimes make no sense, and the lack of fixes for bugs that are years old, what is a player supposed to do except add game play mods and bug fixing mods? Add to that the facts we are getting less for our money, no news on upcoming content, and a feeling we are not being heard, it's no surprise many of us are unhappy with Sims4. Island Living was the last expansion I will ever pay full price for. And Sims4 will probably be the last iteration I'll invest money and effort into. I have invested so much time, effort and money into Sims4 I feel the need to add something, or many somethings, in order to enjoy the game just to recoup some of my investment.
Seasons was the last expansion I actually felt okay about spending 40 dollars for. It was the last one, to me, that met the requirements of being a fleshed out pack. Every pack since then has felt half finished, with game play that became repetitious and boring after just a couple of weeks. And with so many issues regarding broken careers and bugs....well, it just seemed like the teams were going backwards rather than moving the game forward. Whims. One of the most important features from the base game, have been broken for months with no sign from the teams this problem will ever be resolved. The features we have been asking for to help the game feel more fleshed out are instead being replaced with free stuff for CAS and B/B when all we want are bug fixes and our Sims to be more unique as individual characters. Cross-pack features aren't there in new packs. There have been only a few improvements made to what is already in the game. We're given just an influx of pretty things to look at in the hope we can be easily distracted. I understand the world is in the middle of a crisis, and our normal way of life has been altered for a little while. But for the teams to have nothing to say about new content for this long, is inexcusable in light of all the new content we were told to expect in 2020. And we had a tiny bit of hope left for the game because of that announcement. If Tiny Living was all EA had for Sims4 that was finished and ready to be released, why the big announcement about all the new, unexpected and exciting content we could expect to see this year? I'm not up to the task of being excited about new content because I don't believe we will see anything more than a repeat of what we saw last year. And I think a lot of players will agree it was not a stellar year for Sims4. These new packs coming up won't be innovative or exciting in any way. The teams have lost their ability to see past all the social media game play and no doubt, it will become even more prevalent in the game because it is so easy to incorporate into how this game was built. And it appeals to the younger players. Frankly, I'd like to see my Sims be more complex and there is nothing complex about watching a Sim texting and taking selfies every few minutes.
