I heard memory boost can damage graphics cards e.g spiking high temps (burn of death). Cause of this I will be bypassing the July 21 update as I do not want risk 'bricking' my new $500 graphics card into an expensive paper weight.
I also heard memory boost is being rolled out for console but was it actually thoroughly play-tested on console like it was for PC? Imagine memory boost bricking PlayStation consoles? It would catastrophic.
According to the July 14 dev Q&A on Discord, there will be autosave settings. Morgan even posted a sneak peek image to show what it's going to look like in the game. 😁
I hope there's a way to turn off Autosave, just in case the game gets glitchy. I don't save glitchy.
Do you think it's going to affect the simmers who play with mods/cc?

I don't like autosave, if things go "badly wrong" in my game , both, bug issues or storytelling, I definitely want to decide myself is it saved or not.
reminder I might try tho.
Memory boost, I have read some negative things too, but also lots of positive. All depends so much from other things too.. will wait and see.
I'm sorta neutral about these features for my gameplay. I only have one save so I already save frequently during a gaming session. Usually every 15 minutes or after a notable achievement.
As for memory boost I've not experienced any lag, corruption, or memory related issues but as it's not optional I'll just have to wait and see.
I know that a lot of people wanted an Auto Save feature, so I’m happy that they finally get one. However, I personally don’t really need an Auto Save or Save Reminder, so I’m also glad that those features are optional.
I haven’t tried memory boost yet. However, I have heard some players say that it made their game worse. So, I don’t like that with the update, memory boost will now be a mandatory feature. I feel like it should remain optional.
Hey Simmers! With the July 21, 2026 update dropping this Tuesday, I wanted to start a discussion about how everyone feels about the new features — especially AutoSave, Save Reminders, and Memory Boost.
For players like me who run big households, long legacies, and heavily decorated lots, this update feels massive. AutoSave is going to protect so many storylines from crashes, and Memory Boost sounds like it will finally help reduce lag, improve frame rates, and make older saves feel smoother and more stable.
I’m really excited to see how this affects long gameplay sessions, large families, and detailed builds. I also love that Save Reminders are customizable — the little gnome popping up to tell you to save is hilarious.
EA mentioned that the September update will focus on improving Sim autonomy, which makes me even more curious about how these changes will shape everyday gameplay.
So I want to hear from everyone: How do you feel about the July 21 update? Are you excited, nervous, or somewhere in between? Do you think AutoSave and Memory Boost will change how you play? And if you use mods, are you preparing for potential breakage?
Let’s talk about it — I want to hear everyone’s thoughts before the update goes live.
