Well I think that's how smoke detectors usually work. Most smoke detecetors are single station and just make noise to warn you (or your neighbors) of a potential fire. Of course some high end detectors (and also some public area smoke detectors) are also connected to a monitoring company that can alert the fire department but I don't think that's usually the standard in most homes.
In TS4 when the alarm goes off, sims drop anything they're doing and run to the fire and freak out, so I guess it's pretty realistic lol I just wish they could also call the fire dept instead of (I) risking their lives to put out the fire or (2) let their whole furniture burn.
Yeah that's true, but at the time, I just remembered that in TS2 the firemen would show up so idk, I thought they would (I rarely read guides or other things beforehand). The post-fire costs taught me quickly that here they won't ;)
Btw, OT @Neia (forgot to @ :D), I saw a mod of yours I wanted to try yesterday: the teacher mod? Can you send me the link to that? Also, does it still work with the new patches & do you have other similar mods? People really seemed to like it :)
