That hasn't happened yet. I think the police station is coded so that it remains a police station so whatever changes you make to it need to be just cosmetic like layout of the building or decorations. The lot in Sylvan Glades is the same but coded more like a generic lot so you can build on it whatever but you cannot change it's lot type.
