Do you put “rules” on yourself?

I only have rules for myself. Its mostly when to save my game. I save every time a skill levels up, or every time my sims go to sleep at night. Or after achieving something big like level up a star in my vet or restaurant. I do that so that if my game one day does go kaboooom or if something happens I don't like, for instance a fire death that is not warranted then I can freely exit game without saving and not have lost too much important game play :D
