Editing Townies

One thing that's always bothered me is how the townies dress, so many of them aren't stylish at all. Also, so many of them look so bland to me, like they don't have any distinguishing features and often wear the same hair styles. I sometimes delete them and other times I change their clothes but lately I've been adding family members.. old sim? no problem.. just make some sons/daughters, and then make kids/teens for them. I make them based off their genetics and will tweak their features a bit and I'm actually really liking the sims that I am creating this way... I'm making some really interesting looking people and creating them in a way I wouldn't have thought about when making a sim from scratch.. it's also fun to base my sims hair or style based off what they come with initially. Do you edit your townies?? I think it would fun to share pictures of our edited townies. Also, I'm really liking the new eye colors from the update.. now we just need new hair colors! :p

  • I constantly edit my townies. It's just something I started to do a long time ago. I think I started doing it because there were too many poorly dressed, idiotic costumed, and to be perfectly honest, downright ugly Sims. I know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that but I'm the beholder whose eye is doing the observing.

Frankly, I'm finding way too many senior citizens in my town walking around they are on their last legs. Just because I'm a senior citizen myself doesn't mean I want to hang out with them on the Sims where they are pretty clunky and about as spry as a block of wood. And if I like the result I save them in my library with the intention of populating a whole town with my recreations eventually.

So now, using mods of course, I'll edit them, change their age etc. etc etc. Can't age them down to teens though because the game won't let me come out of CAS if I do. If there's a mod for that already like there was in Sims 3, or if someone makes one, that would be nice.

  • I remember reading somewhere that the game is supposed to generate coordinated wardrobes for townies. What a load of plum that was.

For one thing, what's with the propensity for shorts and knee high socks? And the sombreros--what in the sweet F is with the party outfits and sombreros?

Don't even get me started on elders with mohawks and married professional fathers of three with blue hair.

To answer your question, yes I edit the townies. If I didn't, every day in the neighborhood would be Mardi Gras.

Either you're lucky or I'm unlucky or the circus is in town. Maybe all three.
