Ghosts and University

I'm assuming that ghosts can go to University. I don't see why not. If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me.

My question is if going to University is like have a career. When a Sim dies, are they kicked out of Uni? Do they need to reenroll and do they keep their progress? I know that a Sim loses their career upon death, but they don't start as the bottom upon rejoining. I'm not sure if it's a set level that they start at or if it's a level lower than they were (I swear my Sim joined the career at 1 level lower than she was, but I don't what number level that was, so for me, it could have been the same in either case. 😄)
