How do you practice romance scenes?

well, that's not true. I found out that you do not get the action until Acting Level 3

You can also do romantic scenes for tips as well.

Check (Simology - Y / Fame Points) to see if you have the quirk 'No Touching'.
To remove, go to the 'Rewards Store', purchase potion 'Quirk-B-Gone' (250 Simoleons).
A pop up menu will appear of 'Earned Quirks', click 'No Touching'.
Now you will be able to complete the task of ' Practice Romantic Scenes', and other similar tasks.

You probably already know this by now, but you have to practice on someone that's not part of your household, I tried on my Sims dad and it didn't work, but I invited my Sims friends over and it worked so maybe try on a sim that is not part of your household

I am also having issues practicing the romance scene. There is no option for my sim to do so; I can click any other sim and the option shows up, but the action never takes place. They get into position, shake themselves like they are going to start, then the dreaded red slash sign appears above my sim and nothing happens. Over and over again. I have tried it in my home, on the street, in clubs, in bars, at the movie studio and with more than 20 sims. It did happen once when I was at a fund raiser with a sim who is a bff, but have no idea why it worked that time and why I can't seen to figure out how to make it work again. Please, any advice is helpful!!

I have also noticed that inviting co-stars and director to my home doesn't always work. The director almost always shows up, but the co-stars don't always come over, thus leaving my prep work undone. I have also tried the prep work once on the movie studio lot, but by then the prep work seems no longer awardable.

The part about the co-stars not showing up is happening for me as well. For the fact that you cannot preform the romance scene is a mystery to me. I would recommend restarting your computer/game. I performed a romance scene today and it worked just fine, sorry I couldn't help!

yeah, i was trying and trying. then i tried to see if leveling up the acting skill would work, and it did. you need to be at least level 3 to be able to do it

Click on the other sim, you must be two sims to do it. If you can't do it without already having a romantic relation, it should be possible inviting producers/co-stars, and practice with a co-star. Perhaps you could even do that on set on the day of the gig (not sure if start time of the gig is closing time of the preparations.
