- alan6507 years agoSeasoned AceI must say I miss the teasers. They gave us just enough information to whet our appetites and have a little bit of concrete information to stew over. However, I also must say it was amazing the day the team just dropped that Seasons trailer and a month later we were playing it! After a little thought I prefer if they dropped a full length trailer and only had a month at most wait for the release of that trailer's content!
- LatinaBunny7 years agoSeasoned AceI didn’t vote. I’m at the same level. I’m enjoying Seasons and my other packs I’ve bought recently (Parenthood, etc). :)
- sjofn777 years agoSeasoned VeteranI feel less engaged just in the sense of 'has any dang idea what is going on with this game.' I still play plenty, and I understand they don't feel like they can lay out roadmaps of TEH FUTURE like some games do, but ... I don't know. I really prefer looking forward to and speculating about something I know is coming in a few months than SURPRISE,
IN A WEEK or whatever. - JeanVW7 years agoSeasoned AceLess. But I do have to add, not that less really... It's just that I've gotten used to speculate with other simmers about upcoming content and events based on trailers.

We can't answer "No different?" I mean, it's not like we always had quarterly teasers. My engagement level did not change when they were introduced, and it did not change when they were cut. Honestly never cared about them one way or another. If anything, the community speculation got annoying.
There is such a thing as staying in General and out of speculation, and then no one has to be annoyed. If the dog bites, you walk around it the other way. :) I'm less engaged with TS4, OP, because yeah, if I don't see anything coming down the pike that would make me want to play again, no need for me to be over here much.- The excitement behind the teasers helped me map out where I wanted to take my sims stories. As a legacy player, I like to build up from children so they can fully enjoy what they will be doing for their adulthood.
The lack of teasers brings me to the forums less, and even though I got a Twitter account to pay attention to Sims news, I dont even use it anymore because they dont really provide much news. I dont have any interest in watching the guru garage; I'd rather the developers be developing than playing the game. The tweeting they do is often about gamechangers and little contests. I dont really consider that news on the game itself.
I miss the speculation that teasers provided. Even in Sims 2 and 3, we were teased with little pamphlets about future packs.
As someone who is not naturally a social person, losing the teasers made me feel less involved in the Sims community as a whole, and that's a bummer. - I think I may have misunderstood the question. I thought the question was referring to game engagement not forum engagement. There's been no difference in my forum engagement because there are always interesting game-play threads to read and participate in, always someone trying out a pack for the first time and sharing their experiences with the game. Also the Creative Corner is chock full of wonderfully creative builders and storytellers. Always something to see there.

You are missing an answer OP - as none of those is my answer - and my answer is no change - Whether or not there were teasers - did not influence my play at all. I have played Sims since they existed - and we only had the teaser for less than 2 years - they never changed anything before nor anything after they stopped. But you need an answer like No Affect - as that would be my answer.
Yeah, I really don't feel a change either, unless it's less engaged with the forums because of all the complaining. :| I enjoyed the teasers but they weren't all that important to me; I can take them or leave them. I'm interested to see how the new communications strategies (the Guru Garages and the upcoming Maxis Monthly Twitch broadcasts) will work. Maybe if the gurus get hit with the same bugs we do during their streams they'll be embarrassed enough to get them fixed. :D- DomainGoat907 years agoSeasoned Ace

Well the thing is, technically they can have a road map (and I am pretty sure they have one internally) since they plan stuff way in advance.
Problem is (according to them) that they are a public traded company or whatever with investors which prevents that. At least that's something @SimGuruGrant said not too long ago. - sjofn777 years agoSeasoned Veteran

SWTOR - which is by Bioware, also owned by EA - does roadmaps where they tell you what stuff is coming and roughly when, months ahead of those things happening. That's not how Maxis wants to roll, and that's ... fine, I guess, but it still makes me feel like I'm in a void.
Basically, I'm not saying they need to give release dates and every detail of what's coming, but they could give a little more information further ahead of time that's more specific than 'we're gonna do stuff!'
