Well, it's been 2 whole years since we last had an occult sim. Occult Sim fans are just starved for more occults, especially Witches/Magic as that's always been the most popular I believe. Hype will be hype ever since the occult poll last year.
As far as proof, we don't usually get any when it comes to new content besides dev tweets or obscure/secret rare in game references, I guess. Though from the moment Strangerville was announced you could wager it was going for a sci-fi theme rather than magic/fantasy.
And while I appreciate it, I suppose some just got disappointed that it was a completely random pack over something that has been requested for years, and a staple of pretty much all Sims games.
Basically this.
Ofcourse there was/is no evidence about what the next pack was/is going to be, but Strangerville (to me) seems very random. While I do appreciate the fact they are trying to throw some new stuff in the mix, I personally do not want this game to become some MMO where we have to fight bosses and continue a prefabricated story. I mean seriously, I don't care about it at all. And I don't know if I understood this correct, but I remember @SimGuruHouts saying that you can ignore the story element if you don't want to engage in it, but for it to completely turn to normal you have to go through the story at least once per save file. I mean, IF I understood this correctly, why? Why can't we turn off the story completely and make the town just behave like the others with no weird Sims and strange stuff going on.
Do I really have to play through the story every time I decide to make a new save? That's not my definition of having fun at all.
Back to the original topic; I am 1000% sure that we are getting Witches, we are getting University and probably more fan requests and new things, but the point is that a lot of people (at least If im speaking for myself) find the releases extremely random. People waited for years for a new occult to come out, and then they come with something like this.
This basically means that players have to wait even -longer- for their requested pack to come out.
I don't expect another gamepack so soon again. It will probably take months for a new chance of getting Witches or anything supernatural themed to come out. Heck, maybe it doesn't come this year at all.
That is, I think, where most of the disappointment comes from. From all the waiting all the time, while they know exactly what this community wants.
Same goes for different stair types. They know for years already we want them, but they are still not here, same with cars. They started flaunting the cars all over the place in the worlds, it was bad with Get Famous, but now with this new town it's car extravaganza all over again. Yet here we are still waiting....
At this rate they will (if they ever introduce said features) add these features when the game is almost done and we can start the whole cycle over again. I think stuff such as cars and spiral/U/L shaped staircases should have been base game material, not some after thought years and years down the line.
