Its brighter in tropical areas though and that sun reflects off the ocean, I've worked Caribbean years ago and once near an active spewing volcano - it didn't make the sky red - it made it very very very dark and covered everything for miles in ashe. It was like it was snowing. This was like nearly a decade ago or more but I remember it vividly. If you google images the only part of the sky that appears red is highlighted by lava itself - the rest of it is very black.
While I agree with your comment their choice of red = volcano, its a complete artistic choice not a realistic one.
Personally I wanted a lighter color palette for this world because they basically switched from the base games blue light filter to red and red is not a relaxing color at all. I do not think angry red sky when I think vacation lol.
I mean your own signature picture has a certain sky color palette that says "desert" so you must understand what I mean.
