I'm not sure if this is a real issue or if I'm just dumb. I was trying to celebrate winterfest and I wanted to invite over the family of my sim. I was afraid that creating a dinner party would overlap...

It's possible to do both. Invite the guests over to fulfill the tradition before the party begins.
