Is there any way to turn off alien abductions?

Here's how to stop abductions without mods:

When your sim goes outside to "investigate strange light", pause the game.
Open the cheat console, type testingcheats on, hit enter
Now shift-click on your sim, look for "reset sim" or "reset object", select this option and the abduction will not happen.
