Island Living is a good “Expansion Pack”
I see very 50/50 opinions on Island Living. A lot of people who are unhappy feel there’s isn’t enough new gameplay avenues. For me, Island Living is perfect for what an Expansion Pack original...

I am very conflicted about this pack. On the one hand side, I love it to pieces, hardly play anything other than beach vacation and swim team training at the moment and have tons of plans for later. I experienced some minor glitches, but managed to identify the causes and work around them. The vacation part is what I wanted and now I have it, so subjectively there is no reason to complain. IL is my second favorite pack (after Get together and scratching at that one's throne).
On the other hand I count myself very fortunate that the particular features I had been lookign for are working. If I had been looking forward to mermaids or off the grid living I'd be severly disappointed now (or more likely would be waiting for a sale). The off grid trait is so half-baked that the old approach of "just use common sense" is still vastly superior for immersion building. And mermaids that start at teen (or YA?) are not a real true breeding species, but more likely a mutation of the human species.
I think that's symptomatic for all the EP, they dip here and there, but do not commit to anything in-depth. But, yes, that has been said over and over and by now we know what to expect from EPs. So despite being happy as flea myself I would ask VERY carefully what prospective purchasers actually expect before I could recommend IL to someone else.
