How is it a different way of living?
Sims still go to rabbit hole jobs, still need computers to do their daily tasks. They can clean the beach, they can swim and snorkel and sun tan. They can do a fire dance and try different foods although I refuse to call a food re skin game play. (And they could already fire dance if you had the Get together expansion)
But other than that it’s the same game as there is too many rabbit holes to immerse yourself. It’s hard to feel immersed watching a buoy or cave entrance and your game is telling you it’s Geek Con or the romance festival or when your sims friends are inviting you to the disco in Windenburg (For some reason in my save the locals love partying in other worlds)
The different way of living is pure aesthetic and imagination. Because sims in this island act exactly like the sims in Brindleton Bay/Willow Creek and Newcrest etc. The only difference is their names and a change of clothing.
You won’t find for example sims that reject technology and want to live off the land; you won’t find sims that are fed up of the way of life in Sulani and want to change things perhaps for good, perhaps for bad. They are the exact same sims in other worlds with beach wear on.
Don’t get me wrong it’s nice to have my sim have a home next to the water, it’s nice she can go swimming every day and go sailing. But the little activities we do have just aren’t enough. That is why so many fans including game changers (and you know it must be bad if they are speaking up!) are disappointed.
By EA’s definition of a large pack that expands your game - I just don’t see it. Good game pack, too empty for an expansion.
