@SimmerGeorge @Cinebar I'm sure they're aware of that, which is why they're taking it one step at a time. Also, considering they've made a lot of people very happy with these representation updates, how would you feel if they decided they've done enough for now and stopped with that?
And what about if they took your critique serious and started adding even more content for representation but for different groups? For instance, if they started working on wheelchairs for the disabled and rosaries for Christians.
I hope they do take my critique seriously. I think I have pointed out how someone who might not be in the LGBTQ community feels about all this representation marketing. As an adult it's not something that bothers me very much, however, the game is marketed to younger customers. If We/ I say I'm so inclusive, play your Simself in my game, and I have left out several types of people but constantly support, promote and deliver content for people of one community then my younger customers might start to see and believe I don't really mean they can play Simself, just those of the LGBTQ community. Either I am inclusive or I'm not. It can't be a gray area.
With that said if we are all going to say how diverse we play our games then I will ask where are those who would use the rosary and or a wheelchair. As I said early on in this thread, everyone wants to believe they aren't bigoted and or not inclusive but if someone mentions those type people represented in The Sims, there is a lot of backlash, like oh, yes, I'm inclusive look at my pictures of my worlds...just not those people.
If Maxis can't live up to the hype perhaps it's time to rethink that whole tag line and marketing because frankly it's a lie.
Or all this representation was really just for the LGBTQ player and never about diversity and diversity of thought after all.
