Re: The Sims™ 4 Music Expansion Pack
I’ve been thinking about this, and honestly, The Sims 4 is missing a huge opportunity by not having a proper music industry pack. We have instruments and the entertainer career, but it barely scratches the surface of what music gameplay could be.
Here’s how I think it should work:
New careers
- Band Manager – organize tours, manage band drama, book gigs, negotiate contracts
- Record Executive – discover new talent, sign artists, decide which musicians get promoted or dropped
New instruments
- Upright bass
- Saxophone
- Bass guitar
- Drums
These would finally allow actual bands and ensembles to exist in the game.
Forming bands
Sims could form bands where members need complementary skills. For example:
- singer
- guitarist
- drummer
- bassist
- keyboard or sax player
Band chemistry could matter too. Sims with clashing personalities might perform worse together.
Auditions
Two types of auditions:
- Band auditions – Sims try out for bands and need a certain skill level with their instrument
- Record label auditions – labels scout talent and decide who to sign
This would add a lot of storytelling because some Sims might get rejected multiple times before getting discovered.
Band camp
For children and teenagers, there could be a band camp activity during summer or after school, where they:
- learn instruments
- form small groups
- compete in performances
It would make music skills feel like something Sims grow into instead of randomly picking up a guitar as an adult.
Concerts and gigs
Bands could perform at different venues, such as:
- small bars
- clubs
- festivals
- stadium tours
The bigger the venue, the more fame and money.
Band drama
Because it’s The Sims, things should go wrong sometimes:
- band members arguing
- Someone quitting before a big show
- rival bands competing for fans
- band members going solo
- band members falling in love or having messy breakups
Orchestra instruments
I would also love it, if they added instruments like cello, viola, and flute so Sims could form orchestras as well as bands. As a former band geek (I played tenor sax, baritone sax, and upright bass), I’d also love if they even differentiated between alto, tenor, and baritone sax for something like a sax quartet. Realistically, I don’t expect The Sims to go that deep into the details, but it would be really cool if they did.
I feel like this kind of pack would add a lot more storytelling and long-term gameplay, especially if Sims could grow from band camp kids to famous musicians. Curious what everyone else would add to a music expansion like this.
