Open world totally breaks immersion for sure

We'll just have to agree to disagree. I preferred the self employment careers in TS3 but had sims in the RH careers as well. But in TS4, all they do all day long is work, work work. And yes I know many players ignore that but regardless, it's designed to make you work, work work so you can skill skill skill and unlock all that locked content. UGH. Much, much worse IMO than TS3 ever was.

As I've said before, I really don't get why people slam TS3 so hard when many of the same devs are working on TS4 and putting similar elements in the game, only making them far worse than they ever were in TS3.
