@Onverser I too find platforms a bit difficult to build with. It annoys me that they delete walls when placed inside a room. But I guess it takes a bit of time to learn how to work with this tool.
I did manage to build this though:

Or, maybe even better, a child height platform inaccessible for adults:

How did you get into the game after the patch - everyone is saying the game either is not loading or crashing.
I got into the game fine. This is what I did:
Took out my mods folder
Deleted the localthumbcache file in Sims 4 folder
Backed up my Sims 4 folder
Downloaded the patch
Repaired my game
Opened game without mods or CC, completely vanilla
People are saying you might need to update the Microsoft C++ file as well. I didn't have to do this. Other things you can try are completely closing Origin and restarting your computer, then try to load the game again.
I imagine that since this is a huge patch, it will probably break a lot of mods and also a fair share of default CC. So if you use any of those you'll want to remove them first and delete the localthumbcache, then try patching the game and restarting it without any mods or CC first to make sure it works. If it does and you try putting them all back in and then it doesn't work, you'll know it's definitely something in your mods folder.
