On a separate but related matter, has anyone tried baking one of the pies from Get Together, like the Banana Cream pie or the Exotic Fruit Pie, or the Fish Pie, and entered it in the Fenwick Fair Pie Contest? I am just wondering if these pies even register or count in the competition, or if anyone has managed to win a ribbon with one of them.
Yep. I entered a Banana Cream pie and it won first prize :) I didnt have raspberries, blueberries or the meat substitute as of yet so thought Id just give it a shot. It worked!
Okay I am back to report that I tried having my sim enter a pie she made with the Baking skill in a pie competition. She entered a Fruit Pie (she is only at level 3 in the Baking Skill although she has maxed out Cooking and Gourmet Cooking) of excellent quality in the competition and got a third place ribbon (sigh). Her entry came behind a pumpkin pie and a blueberry pie, also of excellent quality. I wonder if the fact that her pie only required level 3 baking (even though it was of high quality) counted against her? In slightly better news, her perfect quality oversized pumpkin (which was pretty big in weight as well, the heaviest vegetable there) got a second place ribbon.
I am going to try again with a pumpkin pie or chocolate pie, or something baked that comes from this EP. Then, when her baking skill is higher, I'll try having her submit a Banana Cream Pie or an Exotic Fruit Pie from that list, and see if she can win with it.
Most of all, it's too bad that the sims can't eat the pies, and perhaps squabble about whose pie tastes the best and praise or insult the other pies. My sim had a great time at the fair, meeting all the locals (and I was delighted to see that it was only sims from Henford who were there), but the real downside was that there is nothing for them to eat. The developers ought at the very least to have included a food stall with the local recipes and a couple of picnic tables to make it feel more fair like. I have never in my life been to a County Fair where there wasn't a ton of really delicious food for the patrons, alongside all the baked goods and veggies that were in the competition. Since most Festivals in the game already come with food of some kind (even the small ones in Sulani), I cannot understand this oversight at all.
