Same sex parents

When adopting, regardless of couples being same sex or heterosexual, the child doesn't share any genetic traits with either parent.

The child is adopted, and doesn't belong to them; so it will be different.

I also wish that for couples hoping to adopt, you could get a baby made for you at the hospital; and you could create it in CAS and predict its future appearance and traits.

You can just enable the cas.fulleditmode cheat and go to CAS and create a toddler. Babies don't do much in this game anyways.

I really hope at some point that they bring back the In Vitro-type option from Sims 3 (I want to say it was Into the Future that added it) it would be nice to have the option of having genetics without the sims having to woohoo. Like in the case of an Unflirty sim or a non-committal sim that doesn't want to have a relationship with someone but still wants to have children that share their genetics. There are mods that allow you to do this but it would be nice to have an in-game option.

Unfortunately, the toddler will not pick up any traits from the parents if you adopt. Alternatively, there’s cas.fulleditmode or you could make one of them able to get pregnant or other sims pregnant.

For my same sex couples I just go into CAS and make it so one of them is able to get the other pregnant. There is an option for your sim to be able impregnate or get pregnant.

The point with adoption, should be to help a child that ie lost its parents or where parents could no longer support their child. It's a community function to help those in need. Then the genetics and traits will normally be less important to the child's new parents.

I never adopted a child in my game, at least not recently, guess someone should do that soon :)

If you want your sims's child resemble the parents, go into CAS normally and choose "play with genetics" to create a new toddler. You can select both parents there, regardless of their sex. Cas.fulleditmode isn't needed to do that, it's a normal game function.

There is an option in the gender menu to set one same sex parent to have babies and one to make them. Its not a mod, its part of the game. If you don't mind cas.fulleditmode, its relatively simple to go in and set them to suit your needs if you want genetic children by your same sex couples.
