Stair problems, help

I’ve quit building over this. I’ll only build again once fixed. The workarounds are usually more headache than I believe they are worth or they affect the rest of the floor plan. Unacceptable.

I have a basement that stopped working once I separated the room. Now sims just get stuck down there once they enter the basement.

"Fix" I removed the wall. I understand stairs broke a while ago for everyone but it's still very annoying. :|

I just discovered this last night, my sim peed herself because she couldn't go up the bar's stairs. None of the other sims could either. It was a mess.

You don’t have to change the original lot, just move the stairs if the fencing appears where the top step is supposed to be, sledgehammer that section out and put the stairs back into their original position.

I actually tried this once in Chez Llama but it deleted a part of the ceiling with it and not being a builder myself I couldn’t figure out how to fix it so I had to undo and leave the broken stairs.

Actually, for this one. (As a builder) It had me confused. The problem wasn't the stairs. After smashing the stairs, at the top it was gated over (walled) but goes invisible when the stairs are there.

The solution was to delete the stairs, then smash the two gate tiles at the top, then rebuild the stairs.

Because of this glitch actually on that building where I first encountered it, (I have encountered it many times since from downloads from the gallery and an occasional pre-built building), I know how to fix it.

I could make a visual explanation. If that would help?

Anyways, gates/walls at the top or bottom can go invisible and block the stairs. The only way to see them and to "smash" them is to remove the stairs first.

Ah, I get this. If you use the fence tool that is automatic, then it creates the fence in front of the stairs that go invisible. So the solution is not to remove the fence on the side of the stairs near the top of the steps, but to move or delete the stairs and then remove the pieces of fence that are in front of the stairs. And the real solution is to build your fences manually instead of with the auto fence. (this is why I have never seen this bug.)

I assume this is also a problem for half walls or any walls used with the auto placement? nevermind. I see where you wrote fences/walls.

That's a really wierd one, you might want to add it to the bug report on AnswerHQ

Been like that for 5 months now, but it seems like fixing "fish dinner not registering as a grand meal" and "can't transform grass in science lab" is higher up their priority list

I've tried hard to replicate your image and despite it looking identical on my screen my sim just will not go up those stairs...

Looking through the gallery now to see if anyone's uploaded a fix that is only this building without an changes other than that fix.

Replacing the stairs helps. I tried that work around and once you replace the stairs (just click a stair in buildmode and hover it on the stairs or replace them entirely, they will load back....Until you have a loading screen.
