Stop making food when another sim is cooking!!!!!

I wish this was patched. I usually have to distract my Sim like ask them to shower or read a book while food is being prepped. I remember in one of the earlier games Sims used to 'Wait for Food'. Why can't we have that again?

Some of my Sims are too poor to be so wasteful on food.
