A restaurant is a service. GTW retail is based around selling products. It's an entirely different situation. With a restaurant, you're selling a place to sit at the venue, food and drink, etc. It's like the Spas, where you don't buy the massage bed, you buy the time of the Sim massaging your Sim.
You can't own Spa's and that is but a pitiful excuse. They "focused" *coughs* *coughs* on retail but they could have added restaurants never the less, just look at OFB.
They could have but I still think it would have been half-baked in GTW. I mean the basic retail is half-baked in my opinion.
In Sims 2, the restaurants were already in place from Night Life. All they had to do was add the business side of things, which is what they were already working on. GTW they were working on Active Careers and Retail. I can't even imagine them trying to add in restaurants and have it done properly. If anything, it probably should have been in Get Together since the main selling point was going out in groups. They coded in the cafe and they should have added the restaurant too.
We will see how this GP goes. With all musical chairs trying to converse with other Sims, I will be surprised if they get through a meal.
