I've been playing with ageing on long so my pets age ( I like them to have lots of different pets.) But if I'm not ready for my Sims to age up I have been cheating them satisfaction points and feeding them the option of youth. I'll age then up when I feel they have done what I wanted them to achieve or if I want to progress with their children's lives more.
